In-wall flashing

Home / Masonry and bricklaying Montreal / In-wall flashing

One of the common causes of water seepage above doors, windows, or foundations is simply the absence of flashing above them.

The cardboard or plastic flashing installed at the time may also have dried out over time, making it ineffective. In this case, you’ll have to:

  1. Carefully remove the bricks or stones in the required areas (at a height of about 12 inches)
  2. Install a self-adhesive membrane
  3. Reseal the wall with the recovered units

During this operation, it’s important to insert weep holes between the bricks or stones to allow the water to drain outward if necessary.
